From a dense slide to a clear idea
Example with sample content.
Sample PDF passage
Price elasticity of demand measures the responsiveness of quantity demanded to a change in price, ceteris paribus.
Study note
Elasticity compares the percentage change in quantity demanded with the percentage change in price. If the absolute value is below 1, demand is inelastic: quantity changes proportionally less than price.
Next, ask why petrol demand may be inelastic in the short run, or practise calculating elasticity from an example.
How it works

What makes it different
- One assigned readingChoose the pages for this lesson so the notes stay focused on what you need.
- Explanations, not extracted textThe PDF becomes a structured summary, with ideas grouped for studying rather than copied into a transcript.
- Keep the next step nearbyAsk Loki about the section or create recall practice without moving the material into a separate chat.
Examo vs a general AI chat
| Topic | Examo | A general AI chat |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lives | One summary per week or section, kept in your course. | A chat thread you keep track of yourself. |
| Long books | Examo finds a textbook's chapters and lets you match them to your course weeks. | You decide how to split a long book and where each part goes. |
| Lectures | Record in Examo, or upload audio and video files up to 1 GB. | You usually prepare a transcript or file first. |
| What comes next | Practice questions, flashcards, mind maps and Loki in the same course. | Each new task starts from a new prompt. |
Examo as it works today. General AI chat apps differ, and many can do more with careful prompts.

How do I turn a PDF into study notes?
Add the PDF to an Examo course, select its pages and choose a destination section. Examo generates a structured summary there, which you can read before creating other study tools.
Can I choose only part of a PDF?
Yes. Select the page range for your reading. For a whole textbook, review the detected chapters and map the readings to your course sections.
Does PDF to notes also create flashcards?
The summary is the foundation. Select flashcards or practice questions as additional content; they use the material prepared for that section.
Can I use scanned PDFs?
Examo reads scanned pages as part of document processing. Clear scans give it a better source; check formulas and hard-to-read passages against the original.
